During his senior year at Ohio State, Troy Smith was a first-team All-America selection by the American Football Coaches Association, the Football Writers Association of America, and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Along with the O’Brien Award, Smith won the Heisman Memorial Trophy and was named Walter Camp Player of the Year.

Additionally, he earned the honors of the Buckeyes’ 2006 Most Valuable Player, Sporting News Player of the Year and the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year. Smith was named Big Ten Player of the Week five times and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors.

For the season, Smith completed 203 of 311 passes for 2,542 yards, throwing for a school-record of 30 touchdowns. He captained Ohio State to an undefeated season and a berth in the National Championship. Smith completed his career with a 25-3 record as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback.
