Davey O’Brien Award Honors Great 8 Quarterbacks From Week Four
FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 28, 2026) — The Davey O’Brien Foundation has announced the eight quarterbacks named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 list for week four.
This week’s list includes Iowa’s Hank Brown, Drew Mestemaker of Oklahoma State, Virginia’s Beau Pribula, Dylan Raiola of Oregon, Alabama’s Keelon Russell, Julian Sayin of Ohio State, Mississippi State’s Kamario Taylor and Conner Weigman of Houston.
All quarterbacks who are named to the Great 8 during the first nine weeks of the season officially join the Davey O’Brien Midseason Watch List. Through four weeks, 28 different quarterbacks have now been honored.
The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, selected from the Great 8 list, will be revealed Tuesday at 11 a.m. (CT).
The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary season this year. The National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981.
Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.4 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.
In 1938, O’Brien, who wore No. 8 as a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955.

Hank Brown, Iowa, Sr., 6-4, 218, Nashville, Tenn.
· Led the Hawkeyes to a thrilling 20-19 victory at No. 18 Michigan with a 16-yard, last-second scoring strike to cap off a 21-for-35 for 227 yards and two scores effort.
Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State, Jr., 6-3, 215, Austin, Texas
· Was 20-for-27 passing for 389 yards and three touchdowns as the Cowboys secured a 41-24 win at West Virginia.
Beau Pribula, Virginia, Sr., 6-2, 209, York, Pa.
· Completed 24 of 28 passes (.857) for 279 yards and four TDs and rushed nine times for 24 yards and a score in a 42-3 win over Delaware.
Dylan Raiola, Oregon, Jr., 6-3, 232, Buford, Ga.
· Entered the game as an injury replacement and finished 19-for-25 passing (.760) for 289 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-27 win at No. 12 USC.
Keelon Russell, Alabama, So., 6-3, 207, Duncanville, Texas
· Amassed 400 total yards (365 passing, 35 rushing) and five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) as Alabama downed South Carolina, 49-18.
Julian Sayin, Ohio State, Jr., 6-1, 214, Carlsbad, Calif.
· Was 27-for-36 through the air for 367 yards and four touchdowns and added 29 yards on the ground plus another score in a 42-19 win over Illinois.
Kamario Taylor, Mississippi State, So., 6-4, 230, Macon, Miss.
· Led the Bulldogs to a 31-24 victory over No. 19 Missouri by completing 27 of 38 pass attempts for 360 yards and three touchdowns.
Conner Weigman, Houston, Sr., 6-3, 210, Cypress, Texas
· Accounted for all six Cougar touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in a 42-28 win at Georgia Southern.
