Daniels, Simmons Share Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week Accolade
FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 6, 2026) – Florida State’s Ashton Daniels and Missouri’s Austin Simmons have been named Davey O’Brien National Co-Quarterbacks of the Week for week five of the college football season.
In a 38-7 win over Virginia, Daniels carried 17 times for 136 yards (8.0 yards per carry) and a school-record five touchdowns. He added 183 yards through the air. The senior from Buford, Ga., also tied FSU’s single-game points record (30 points) and was named ACC Quarterback of the Week.
Simmons steered Missouri to a dominant 45-17 victory over No. 8 Florida on Saturday. He connected on 23 of 30 pass attempts (.767) for a season-high 340 yards and two touchdowns. The senior from Miami, Fla., was voted the SEC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary season this year. The National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981.
Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.4 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.
In 1938, O’Brien, who wore No. 8 as a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955.
